ABSTRACT

Urban slums have received significant attention for their vulnerability to the spread of Covid-19. This is because slum areas show physical and socio-economic unpreparedness to face the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aims to analyze the environmental vulnerability of riverfront slum areas in Karangsari Sub District, Kendal during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research method uses quantitative methods. During the Covid-19 pandemic, data collection through field observations was carried out in compliance with health protocols. In addition, questionnaires were distributed to 40 respondents who were citizens of RW 5. The analysis technique uses descriptive quantitative analysis and spatial analysis. The results showed that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the maintenance of environmental infrastructure for slum areas on the riverfront was vulnerable to reduced frequency. Interventions from the government and stakeholders related to tidal flooding from upstream to downstream and waste management cannot be implemented as a whole. So that it requires the participation of all relevant stakeholders to overcome problems in riverfront slum areas that are vulnerable to tidal flooding and waste management which can cause the rapid spread of the Covid-19 virus. © 2023 Author(s).

ABSTRACT

Current settlements development face problems of funding sources for limited infrastructure construction. Especially during the Covid 19 pandemic, where state revenue as the main basis for infrastructure funding could not reach the expected target. It requires blended financing sources that do not only rely on the ability of state funding but also alternative sources of funding, one of which is in the form of philanthropy, an effort to help others which are manifested by a social charity in the form of funds or something else. This research applied a descriptive-analytic method to explore various philanthropic phenomena developed in Indonesia. The results show that philanthropy has been developing for a long time and has become one of the roots of the social life of the Indonesian people. Philanthropy grows from the spirit of togetherness in the community and encourages outcomes in the form of an increased sense of belonging, the community in socializing, and community initiatives in caring for and managing the built network system. The sustainability of infrastructure development on a community scale will be more guaranteed with the existence of philanthropy in the community. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

ABSTRACT

Cities are currently struggling with increasingly limited land availability and rising land prices in urban areas. In this regard, proper land management can control land prices and optimize space to be effective, efficient and sustainable. This paper presents the results of research in Sungai Selan, a small city of Central Bangka Regency. It focuses on the forms of land management by determining the community and stakeholder readiness in a Land Cooperative Institution to implement a Detail Urban Spatial Plan (RDTRK), especially concerning land consolidation. We conducted this study during the Covid-19 pandemic and, therefore, research methods were adapted to suit the prevailing conditions by uploading expert priority choices online. The experts involved were those considered the main stakeholders of RDTRK implementation, such as representatives from the local government agencies, members of the Local Council of People Representative (DPRD), and selected members of cooperatives dealing with land and spatial issues. The results show that stakeholders are in general ready to establish land cooperatives and incorporate into RDTRK implementation with certain conditions. © 2020 by the authors.
